BBVA, one of Spain's leading banks, has received approval from the country's securities regulator to offer Bitcoin and Ether trading services in Spain. This initiative allows clients to securely buy, sell, and manage these cryptocurrencies through BBVA's application.
In Turkey, BBVA's subsidiary, Garanti BBVA, is preparing to launch cryptocurrency trading services to its 27 million clients. This move is facilitated through Garanti BBVA Kripto, a crypto custody provider under Garanti BBVA. The bank has partnered with Bit2Me, a Spanish crypto exchange, to support this initiative, aligning with the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulations that came into effect on December 30, 2024.
BBVA's strategic collaboration with blockchain company Metaco further enhances its digital asset custody services. By integrating with Metaco's Harmonize platform, BBVA emphasizes heightened security and transactional efficiency, laying the groundwork for future services tailored to institutional clients.
These developments underscore BBVA's commitment to integrating digital assets into its offerings, reflecting a broader trend among European banks to meet the growing demand for cryptocurrency services.
