🏦 The United States currently holds 198,109 Bitcoins controlled by the Treasury, mainly from civil and criminal asset seizures.
📖 According to the executive order from March 6, the strategic reserve of Bitcoin will be funded with confiscated assets. Government agencies must conduct an audit to determine the actual holdings.
⚖️ The largest seizures:
🎯 69,370 BTC Silk Road, 2020.
🎯 94,636 BTC Bitfinex, 2022.
🎯 51,351 BTC Silk Road, 2022.
🇺🇸 The U.S. government previously auctioned off confiscated units, but the White House, at least for now, has banned further sales.
🇨🇳 Currently, China holds almost double the amount of Bitcoin that the U.S. government possesses (considering that Bitfinex will receive its Bitcoin back).
Blackrock and Strategy already jointly hold more than 1 million units.
