The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, the ninth edition of the tournament, concluded on March 9, 2025, with India emerging victorious. Held from February 19 to March 9, 2025, the tournament featured the top eight ranked men’s national teams, including Afghanistan, who made their debut appearance.

Hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board, the event marked Pakistan’s return as a host nation for a global cricket tournament after nearly 29 years. The final was contested between India and New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. New Zealand batted first, setting a target of 252 runs, with significant contributions from Michael Bracewell (53 not out) and Daryl Mitchell (63). India’s spinners, led by Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy, restricted New Zealand to 251-7.

In response, India achieved the target with nine balls to spare, led by Rohit Sharma’s 76-run performance. Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, and KL Rahul also made crucial contributions. Rachin Ravindra was named Player of the Tournament for his outstanding all-round performance throughout the series.

This victory added to India’s impressive record in recent ICC events, marking their second ICC trophy win within nine months under captain Rohit Sharma.
