$150 million in $XRP

stolen from Ripple founder's wallet due to security flaw!

The theft of $150 million from Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen is linked to a security flaw in the password manager LastPass, according to a forfeiture complaint filed by US law enforcement on March 6.

The complaint indicates that Larsen's private keys were stored in LastPass, which suffered a major security breach in 2022. Using this vulnerability, hackers accessed Larsen's keys and stole XRP tokens worth $150 million at the time of the theft, and over $600 million at current prices.

Larsen confirmed the incident in January, explaining that the hack only affected his personal accounts and that Ripple’s corporate wallets were not affected.

It is estimated that cryptocurrency losses related to the LastPass security breach have reached at least $250 million by May 2024.
