The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) issued a statement on Friday, March 7, reaffirming and expanding the authority of U.S. banks to enter into cryptocurrencies.
🪙 They will be able to hold Bitcoin
🪙 They are authorized to hold other crypto assets
🪙 Certain activities related to stablecoins
🪙 They will be able to participate in distributed ledger networks, provided that they comply with security and financial stability regulations.
🪙Prior supervision by the OCC will no longer be necessary to operate with cryptocurrencies.

🚨 The agency also withdrew its support for previous statements highlighting the risks associated with such activities.
