US Congress Member Proposes Donald Trump as New Face on US$100
Republican US Congress member Brandon Gill proposed a Bill that would feature the face of Donald Trump on the US$100 bill, replacing Benjamin Franklin.
The bill, called the *Golden Age Act*, aims to honor Trump's contributions during his presidency, including his efforts to strengthen the borders, improve trade relations, and make the US energy independent.
Gill stated that Trump deserves this honor due to his dedication to the country, even after surviving an assassination attempt while campaigning. If approved, the US Department of the Treasury would be asked to design the initial draft of the bill by the end of 2026, with a target to begin circulation in 2029.
This move has sparked both support and opposition among politicians. While supporters see it as a symbolic tribute to Trump's achievements, critics have raised concerns about the difficulty of obtaining legislative approval.
However, current law prohibits images of living people from being printed on US currency, so a change in the law is necessary to realize this proposal.
