Binance Bombarded with One-Star Reviews as Pi Network Supporters Protest Non-Listing

Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, has faced a surge of one-star reviews on both Google Play and the Apple App Store after Pi Network supporters expressed frustration over the platform’s refusal to list Pi coins. A post in a Pi Network Facebook group with more than 135,000 members called on users to “rate Binance one star for disrespecting the Pi Network project.” Similar requests spread across Facebook and X, with many users claiming to have followed through, though a small minority opposed the action.

From Feb. 17 to Feb. 27, Binance conducted a poll through its Binance Square Official account to gauge interest in listing Pi. Over 85% of respondents supported the idea, but Binance clarified that the poll was “for reference only” and would not dictate any decisions or actions. "These results are not final," the platform stated.

On Mar. 1, Binance updated the survey results, showing a majority favoring the listing, but no commitment was made. The exchange explained that its listing process includes extensive due diligence, where an independent team evaluates factors such as project quality, technological innovation, market demand, and security.

Hoang Anh, an administrator of a Pi Network Facebook group with over 150,000 members, believes many Pi supporters mistakenly thought Binance would automatically list Pi based on the poll's results. This misunderstanding led to frustration among users who had registered accounts, verified their identities, and deposited at least $5 to participate. "Feeling deceived, the only way for them to express their anger was through one-star ratings on Binance's app," Hoang Anh explained.

Binance’s Google Play rating dropped from 4.9/5 to 3.8/5 after the wave of one-star reviews, with 2.86 million total reviews. Its App Store rating fell from 4.8/5 to 4.2/5, based on around 12,400 ratings.
