Crypto exchange Bybit has been hit by a massive $1.4 billion security breach, one of the largest in crypto history, according to Safe{Wallet}. The attack, attributed to the North Korean hacking group TraderTraitor (UNC4899), bypassed multi-factor authentication (MFA) using a hijacked AWS session token stolen from a compromised developer’s notebook. The incident underscores the growing sophistication of state-backed cybercriminals and raises concerns over centralized platform vulnerabilities. Bybit has not yet issued a full statement, but experts are calling for stronger security measures across the industry.
