#TrumpCongressSpeech

Donald Trump gave an address to a joint session of the United States Congress on March 4, 2025, covering several issues, such as the economy, energy costs, and foreign policy ¹. The 1 hour and 40 minute speech was the longest joint session address of Congress in at least 61 years.

Trump spoke of the importance of backing up the police and the firefighters, but also about establishing a peace accord to put an end to the Russo-Ukrainian War. Trump also mentioned tariffs and the cost of eggs, an issue for a lot of Americans.

One of the standout moments in the speech came when Democratic Representative Al Green yelled that Trump did not receive a mandate, causing Speaker of the House Mike Johnson to instruct the sergeant-at-arms to take him away ¹.

Along with his policy plans, Trump also declared an executive order renaming the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge to the Jocelyn Nungaray National Wildlife Refuge, after a young girl who was senselessly murdered.

This address was followed by Democratic Senator Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, Representative Adriano Espaillat of New York, and Independent Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont responding ¹.
