1. The sooner the better, establish your own stable "life management system"
The impact of this incident on life is much greater than you can imagine. This is definitely the most important thing I have realized most deeply in these years.
The reason why I used two "most" words in a row is to show that this matter is really very important.
What is a life management system?
Simply put, you need to have your own way of managing your life, which mainly includes two parts: emotional management system & life management system.
1. Emotional management system, that is, you must be able to manage your emotions and maintain a stable, happy and peaceful state.
To do this you need to know:
Under what circumstances can I be in this state?
How can we create this state through some deliberate actions?
What would disrupt this state?
And how to deal with times when you are overly excited or depressed.
All of the above need to be carefully recorded.
You need to observe your emotional state for a long period of time, record and conduct behavioral tests. This is something that requires you to "distract" to complete, and you need to pay more attention to the observation of consciousness and emotions while doing things.
It may reduce your work efficiency in the short term, but believe me, it is definitely a worthwhile investment of attention.
It is no exaggeration to say that I was troubled by emotions in the past few years. It affected my health, work, interpersonal relationships, and overall state to an unexpected degree. For this reason, I had to learn how to deal with emotions and broke down frequently.
It is because of this that I have completely realized the importance of "life" and "emotions", and I understand why people are always in the trough and refuse to come out, why many things are simple but many people just can't do it - because they are really trapped. It looks calm, but their life is actually a pile of mud, which makes them worse and worse.
Therefore, if you have often lost control of your emotions in the past, please make "establishing an emotional management system" a top priority in 2024.
2. Life management system is to systematically manage several major aspects of life. Mainly including:
1) External environment: living and office environment management
2) Internal environment: personal health management
3) Time dimension: life rhythm management
4) Dynamic Dimension: Interpersonal Communication Management
5) Inner dimension: life goal management
In fact, all aspects of life are included in these five dimensions. If you manage these five aspects well, you can ensure that your life will not get out of control to the greatest extent.
What pace of life is the most efficient and comfortable for you?
How can we develop proper eating habits to ensure that we don’t have any annoying little problems?
What behavioral habits can you establish to help you maintain a comfortable environment?
How to deliberately choose social circles and how to deliberately maintain intimacy among friends? (Friends are an important investment)
All of the above are things that will have subtle but important impacts on our lives. If you can deliberately spend some time to explore and optimize your life system, then this will definitely bring huge benefits to your life in the next few decades.
2. In addition to the awareness of money investment, it is more important to have the awareness of "attention investment" and "time investment"
Simply put, life is an investment game. It includes three important elements:
Capital, choice, results.
What capital do you have, what choices do you make, what results do you get, and whether this result can be accumulated to assist your next larger capital investment, more possible choices, and more certain results. Life is pushed forward in this way.
However, a narrow perception in the past is that we often think that only "money" is capital, which is completely wrong.
Attention, time, physical strength, mental strength, health, stable output of emotions, reputation, age and the potential social recognition behind them.
The above are the capital that everyone possesses, and they are much more important than money.
I'm not just giving away the cliche, I'm serious!
Or to put it more bluntly, the reason why so-called capitalists can become capitalists is that they can buy labor, that is, buy a person's physical strength, mental strength, health, attention, time, etc. If they take the money and just spend it, then the money is not capital, but a consumer product.
It is what you and I have that turns "money" into "capital" with investment attributes. So since they can, of course you can also invest on your own.
Research on brain science has long proven that a person has a fixed amount of attention every day, not to mention time. All of the above actually have invisible weight, just like heavy gold coins, you must spend them before going to bed, and the way you spend them determines what you can get in the future.
You can choose to invest your attention on other people's eyes, other people's trivial matters, and nipple pleasures on this day. You can spend your brainpower on intrigue, calculating petty profits, and competing with others for beauty. You can spend your health on junk food, staying up late, and playing games all night.
You can also invest in effective socializing with friends, invest in solving difficult problems, use your healthy body to invest in your health (such as fitness), use your attention to invest in attention (deliberately practice concentration), and use your time to invest in more time (learn and manage time).
And so on.
This is a cognitive breakthrough that has benefited me a lot in recent years. After thinking about this, many things will become clear to you. Whether you choose to do it or not, you will have a clearer purpose and direction.
In fact, many people lament every day that they have no money and can't do anything, but they ignore the resources they actually have. This bias limited to money is really fatal.
Ultimately, money is just one of the tools at hand.
What I mentioned above are the real things being competed in the gaming field. They are absolutely fair capital, with absolutely fair distribution and open and transparent channels for self-growth.
As long as you invest correctly, you will definitely get a good return.
3. Consciously cultivate the ability to "earn money independently" and start to deliberately build your own foundation for survival
The foundation for a stable life - a skill, ability, or thing that is not affected by the outside world, is real and effective, and can definitely make money!
In the past two years, we have seen too many industries and too many positions affected, too many people unemployed and unable to find jobs. Under this long-term trend, it is particularly important to find your own foundation for survival.
It doesn't have to be a skill or a physical object, but it must be something that is unique to you, better than most people, something that you have invested time and brainpower in, and something that is in demand in the market. For example, writing skills, social skills, a certain work, or a certain resource are all fine.
I personally am not optimistic about the future. The number of people who can get a job by simply selling their physical strength and a little bit of brainpower will become smaller and smaller. With resources being tight and technological progress being slow, if you don’t have something that can hold you firmly against external changes, you will only become more and more passive in the future.
If you have a general direction, please reduce entertainment consumption as much as possible and invest in it;
If you don't have one, find the most likely direction from what you're already doing and invest immediately, don't wait.
The time for slow growth is over, please jog forward in the face of great changes!
4. Accept the reality of consumption downgrade and return to rational consumption
In my opinion, returning to rational consumption is actually a good thing in a downward trend.
The overall consumption trend in the past few years has actually been over-expanded. Consumer goods are overpriced, and exaggerated consumption and waste are common. In the past three years, many people have pursued premium products that are far beyond their means, wasting a lot of time and money on unnecessary consumption.
These situations have certainly created the illusion of a booming market, but in reality they have caused a waste of social and personal resources. It is not an exaggeration to describe it as a "waste".
There is no need to delve into the reasons behind this, we just need to understand one thing - the products we consume today and the consumption concepts that have been rooted in our minds over the past few years are very watered down.
The "very large" here can be magnified to the greatest extent possible with your imagination.
What is likely to happen in the next few years is that businesses will continue to work hard to maintain prosperity, but consumers will generally be weak and begin to show a trend of returning to rationality.
In other words, business is not going well, projects are not going well, and it is harder for everyone to make money.
But this may not be a bad thing.
In other words, rather than a situation where the market is booming but competitive consumption is rampant and everyone is over-burning resources, I would rather see a situation of simplicity and rationality, and a return to the essence of consumption.
After all, this is a good thing both from the perspective of protecting the earth and from the perspective of reducing internal competition.
Of course, for individuals, this also means being prepared to cut back on consumption, but don’t worry, this is not worth feeling sorry for yourself. On the contrary, you will have the opportunity to discover more real pleasures and live with a greater sense of inner security.
at last
One way or another, 2023 is about to pass. Maybe not in the way you expected, maybe you were lost, but it is about to pass. You have been changed, and I hope that is for your benefit.
We drank the wine in the glass silently, packed our bags, regrouped, and set off again together.
In 2023, thank you for sticking with me all the way.
In 2024, I wish you everything is lovely! 🙏
