Justin Sun, the founder of the Tron blockchain platform and a well-known digital asset collector, has announced the imminent launch of the revolutionary Gas Free feature. This technological innovation, set to go live within the next week, will fundamentally change the way USDT transactions are conducted on the Tron network.

The key advantage of this update is the complete removal of the need to use TRX, the platform’s native token, to pay transaction fees when transferring USDT. The Tron team has been working on this functionality since at least mid-last year, aiming to restore the blockchain’s reputation as an affordable infrastructure for stablecoin transactions.
Recently, Tron users have faced a significant increase in transaction fees, with some cases reaching as high as $9 per transfer. This has severely undermined the network’s competitive advantage, which was previously known for its low fees on stablecoin transfers. As a result, Tron’s dominance in the stablecoin space has gradually shifted towards Ethereum.
According to Justin Sun, the Gas Free technology could potentially be adapted for Ethereum and other EVM-compatible blockchains. However, despite the potential significance of this upgrade, the crypto market, which remains in a state of heightened uncertainty due to several negative factors, has shown little reaction to the announcement. The TRX token price remains stable at $0.22.
