Trump seeks his own benefit and more power, caring little or nothing about this war.

He can't stand the EU. They don't fit into his plans, they are a very strong enemy he knows he can't handle, so he dismisses them outright.

Zelensky tells him yes, yes! You guarantee me a ceasefire if I sign the agreement, but can you give me any guarantees??!! Because since 2015 with other presidents, including you, nothing has happened. Putin has continued to invade at will whenever he pleases.
