Alibaba, the Chinese giant in e-commerce, announced on Wednesday that it has made its AI model for creating videos and images, 'Wan 2.1', available as open source to the public. This move aims to enhance the use of this technology and increase competition in the AI market.
With this announcement, Alibaba follows in the footsteps of companies like Deep Seek, which have attracted the interest of tech investors with their low-cost open-source models that offer performance comparable to that of large corporate models like OpenAI.
Alibaba revealed four different versions of the 'Wan 2.1' model, which are: T2V-1.3B, T2V-14B, I2V-14B-720P, and I2V-14B-480P.
