Ruja Ignatova launched OneCoin in 2014, claiming it would rival Bitcoin. Investors bought educational packages, but OneCoin had no blockchain and was a Ponzi scheme.
By 2017, as investigations grew, she vanished after a flight to Greece. In 2019, her brother was arrested. The scam stole $4.4B, making it one of the biggest crypto frauds. Ignatova remains on the FBI’s most-wanted list.
