Japanese company Metaplanet, often likened to "Asian MicroStrategy," has continued its Bitcoin accumulation strategy. However, this time they bought 135 BTC at 96,000 USD each, right before the market crashed.

Buying Bitcoin Before the Price Drops – A Mistaken Move?

On the morning of February 25, #metaplanet spent 2 billion yen (approximately 13.37 million USD) to buy more Bitcoin. Ironically, just a few hours later, the price of BTC plummeted to 91,000 USD, as former US President Donald Trump reaffirmed the trade war. This led the company to be considered as having "overpaid".

However, Metaplanet pursues a DCA (Dollar-Cost Averaging) strategy – that is, buying $BTC regularly instead of trying to catch the bottom. Although this purchase may not have been at the best price, the company is still enjoying a profit of about 10%, with an average DCA price of around 83,100 USD/BTC.

Metaplanet currently holds 2,235 BTC, equivalent to 0.01% of the total global Bitcoin supply. Not only benefiting from the rising Bitcoin price, this strategy has also helped the company revive from being an "unknown" business in Japan to one of the strongest growth stocks on the Tokyo stock exchange.

MicroStrategy Also Bought More – DCA Continues to Prove Effective

Not only Metaplanet, but also Michael Saylor's MicroStrategy (now rebranded as Strategy) just acquired an additional 1.99 billion USD worth of Bitcoin on February 24, increasing its total BTC holdings to 499,096 BTC (worth approximately 47.75 billion USD). Thanks to DCA, this company is enjoying a 44% profit from Bitcoin.
