The important upgrade Pectra of Ethereum has officially been deployed on the Holesky test network on the morning of February 25th as scheduled. However, this network encountered issues that prevented the transaction confirmation (finalization) from completing as expected.

Incident on Holesky Testnet – Cause Still Unknown

Immediately after deployment, Holesky experienced serious issues, preventing transactions from being fully confirmed. The specific cause has not yet been determined, and the development team $ETH is urgently finding ways to fix it.

Despite the hiccups, Pectra is considered one of the largest upgrades of Ethereum, with 11 improvement proposals (EIPs) that enhance performance and user experience. Notably, there are:

🔹 EIP-7702: Upgrade to crypto wallets, adding smart contract capabilities to support account abstraction, making wallet operations easier. This proposal was outlined by Vitalik Buterin in just 22 minutes!

🔹 EIP-7251: Increase the staking limit of validators from 32 ETH to 2,048 ETH, simplifying validator operations and optimizing staking activities on Ethereum.

Sepolia Testnet May Be Delayed

According to the plan, the Sepolia testnet will be the next platform for testing #pectra on March 5th. However, if the issue on Holesky is not resolved, this schedule may be pushed back.

After the testing is completed on Holesky and Sepolia, Ethereum will finalize the deployment time of Pectra on the mainnet in March 2025.

Not the First Time Ethereum Encountered Issues During Upgrade

The hiccup on the Holesky testnet is not something unfamiliar to Ethereum. In January 2024, the upgrade #Dencun also encountered a similar error on the Goerli testnet, but it was successfully deployed afterward.

Despite the hiccups, Pectra is still a promising upgrade that enhances user experience and optimizes staking operations. The Ethereum community is waiting to see if this issue will affect the official deployment schedule! 🚀#anhbacong
