What does this mean? Developers can test new improvements before they enter the Ethereum mainnet! Pectra is not simple, it brings a series of super cool features: enhanced Ethereum accounts, full support for Layer 2 expansion, and greatly improved validator user experience.
According to the Ethereum Foundation, Pectra is a key step towards account abstraction. For example, EIP-3074 allows externally owned accounts (EOA) to perform batch transactions and sponsor gas payments, greatly enhancing Ethereum account abstraction. Moreover, after the Pectra upgrade, Ethereum's blob capacity will increase by 50%! The mainnet currently supports an average of 3 blobs per block, which will increase to 6 after the deployment of Pectra.
