A year ago, we made a decision that would reshape the future of OpenSea: to rebuild everything from the ground up, not just our technology and features, but the core of our company.
This was not an easy choice, but it was the right choice. Over the past year, we have reimagined every aspect of the business, and today, we are proud to launch OS2 - the most significant development in OpenSea's history.
OS2 is a faster, more stylish platform built by a lean, crypto-native team that engages with our users every day.
The platform includes upgrades across every aspect of the market, providing our users with a faster, more seamless NFT and token experience, and includes new chains, better search and discovery methods, market aggregation, cross-chain purchases, and lower fees at launch.
So what is OS2? It is a one-stop shop for everything on-chain, your gateway to web3, tokens, and NFTs, all on one platform.
None of this would have been possible without our testers. Over the past few months, a dedicated group of you has been stress-testing our new platform, engaging on Discord, and showing us the best opportunities to improve the platform. Thank you to our testing team!
OS2 Overview
OS2 introduces the following:
Updated core functionalities: improved search, sorting, and discovery tools through new feature tabs, exploration tabs, and more;
One-stop service for NFTs and tokens: homogeneous token swapping through an integrated liquidity aggregator;
New chains: regularly adding other chains;
Cross-chain purchases: allowing users to purchase NFTs and tokens across multiple blockchains without manual swapping or bridging;
Aggregated market listings: helping users find the best prices;
Real-time data and analytics: color-coded rarity, real-time updates, and in-depth statistics;
Enhanced user experience: redesigned homepage, faster navigation, wallet sidebar, and real-time notifications;
Rewards (XP): a program designed to benefit platform users.
Upgrade Core
While building OS2, we focused on enhancing core functionalities. We made comprehensive improvements to the foundation of the product, bringing significant benefits to the entire platform.
We have done things like redesigning the entire navigation experience, because finding what you want should be effortless. Now, you can sort collectibles by floor price, highest bid, chain, and category. You can quickly get more information about collectibles directly in search - from items and tokens to related accounts.
OS2 provides deeper statistics and charts as well as color-coded rarity, all within automatically updated real-time information. You can navigate more efficiently using shortcuts to access features like leaderboards and statistics pages.
Track your wallet activity and portfolio in the wallet sidebar or profile. Every time you complete a transaction on OS2, you will receive in-app notifications to help you track and manage your activity.
Introduce ERC20 tokens and gain aggregated liquidity
One of the biggest updates to OpenSea is that OS2 introduces token swapping functionality. Now, you can seamlessly access NFTs and tokens in one place through an integrated liquidity aggregator, meaning you can discover, buy, and sell NFTs and ERC20 tokens using OpenSea.
OS2 connects you to third-party liquidity aggregators that source liquidity from major DEXs and AMMs across the ecosystem, helping you find competitive token exchange prices.
This update transforms OpenSea into a comprehensive web3 marketplace, providing you with the tools and liquidity access you need to manage everything in one place.
New Chains
In addition to the existing chains compatible with OpenSea, Flow, ApeChain, Berachain, and Soneium have also joined the ranks. Stay tuned for more upcoming chains.
Cross-Chain Purchases
With cross-chain purchases, you can buy NFTs and tokens across multiple chains without manual bridging or swapping. For instance, you can use ETH in your wallet to purchase NFTs on any supported chain, enabling seamless purchases across multiple chains, with all the complexity happening behind the scenes.
Unveiling XP
OS2 introduces rewards in the form of XP to the platform, a new system we use to recognize and reward active users. Starting today, from Wave 1, users can begin earning XP through select activities on OS2, such as creating and maintaining active listings and making collection offers on eligible NFT collections.
XP updates throughout the day reflect real-time activity. XP earnings for Wave 1 start today. Track your progress directly from your profile page, where you can view your current XP score and activity history.
$SEA Token
Today marks another milestone: The OpenSea Foundation announces the upcoming launch of $SEA, a token designed to support participation within the NFT and broader crypto ecosystem. $SEA holders will be able to use this token on OS2.
While the foundation has not yet announced a listing date for $SEA, they will draw on experiences from the field and focus the token's utility on driving long-term sustainability. $SEA will also serve as a new means to recognize active and loyal users of the platform, as well as historical users who have participated since the establishment of the OpenSea community.

OS2 is not just a new product; it is a new OpenSea. Today may be the culmination of months of work, but this is just the beginning. We are developing a long-term roadmap that extends far beyond today's release, with a vision to create the most powerful and user-friendly digital asset platform for everyone, from casual collectors to experienced professionals.
In the coming weeks and months, you will see rapid iterations, expansions, and updates of OS2. We have already begun integrating new chains, expanding accessible tokens, and developing features to make managing your digital assets even more seamless.
