Currently, there are no announced plans to burn part of the Shiba Inu (SHIB) token or the PEPE token. For SHIB, periodic burn operations have been carried out to reduce its circulating supply; for example, in November 2024, the SHIB burn rate increased by 2225% with the removal of 14.58 million tokens from circulation. However, these amounts represent a small portion of the total supply of 589.26 trillion tokens, and thus burning 50% of the supply would require much larger burn operations.
For the PEPE token, in October 2023, 6.9 trillion tokens were burned, representing about 1.6% of the total supply. Plans have also been announced to burn additional tokens worth $500 million in 2026. However, there are no plans to burn half of the total supply.
Overall, burn operations aim to reduce supply and increase the scarcity of the token, which may positively affect its value. However, implementing a 50% burn of the total supply requires significant coordination and strategic decisions from the development teams and the supporting community of each token.
