President #DonaldTrump revoked the long-standing decree that punished American companies that engaged in #Corruption in other countries.

The law was a global commitment by the US to Transparency, Honesty and Liberal and Democratic principles.

However, a closer look shows us that #TRUMP does not only want to promote unfair competition from the US:

By revoking the law, Trump also no longer recognizes the Judiciary of the countries where these companies operate. This means that eventual punishments such as fines, confiscations, bans and imprisonments can be questioned by the US government and not complied with by the companies. Including embargoes and taxation against these countries!

Some experts are also linking the recent lawsuit filed by a Trump company against the Brazilian Supreme Court to this imperialist move by the US. The legal mess would not be able to harm Judge Alexandre de Moraes, but it could generate an immediate court decision against new punishments for American social networks operating in Brazil, giving them support so that they do not remove content considered illegal and pay fines for non-compliance with court orders. Furthermore, any blockages to operations in Brazil, as occurred with X, would be retaliated against by the American government.

CONCLUSION

American companies, including social networks, would be given a free pass to commit crimes in the countries where they operate without risk of punishment and with full protection from their government.

Finally, it is important to remember that this type of symbiosis between the State and Private Initiative is nothing new. To cite an example from a less controversial country and time, England has always used its military power in trade disputes. See the two Opium Wars, the partition of Africa and its domination of India.
