The survey shows that the main reasons for investing in meme coins include dramatic price fluctuations, fear of missing out (FOMO), recommendations from friends and family, and the entertainment value of such tokens. Nearly 29% of holders invest in meme coins for potential short-term gains, while 23% view meme coins as a way to diversify their portfolios, and another 23% see them purely as entertainment.
The ratio of female to male investors in meme coins is similar, with 86% of female cryptocurrency holders participating in meme coin investments, compared to 84% of males. Despite demonstrating high interest in meme coins during this cycle, most investors remain cautious. The survey indicates that 36% of meme coin holders allocate less than 10% of their portfolio to this asset, 25% say meme coins account for 10% to 25% of their cryptocurrency portfolios, and only 5% of respondents allocate over 50% of their portfolios to meme coins.
