🇸🇻 El Salvador has become the sixth country to hold more than 6,000 Bitcoin, further consolidating the status of cryptocurrency as a treasury asset for President Nayib Bukele's country.
Although El Salvador usually buys $BTC a day, it purchased the equivalent of 1 million dollars one day after closing a 1.4 billion dollar deal with the International Monetary Fund, and again on December 22.
The director of the National Bitcoin Office of El Salvador, Stacy Herbert, said that the Central American country could continue to buy Bitcoin at an "accelerated pace" in a post on X on December 19.
El Salvador joins the U.S., China, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, and Bhutan as the only countries currently holding Bitcoin above 6,000 $BTC .
