#MileiMemeCoinControversy Argentine President Javier Milley has been embroiled in a major controversy after promoting a cryptocurrency called $LIBRA. On February 14, 2025, Milley endorsed the token on his social media, describing it as a private initiative aimed at stimulating the Argentine economy by financing small businesses. This support led to a rapid increase in the market capitalization of $LIBRA, reaching approximately $4.5 billion. However, within a few hours, the value of the token fell by more than 90%, raising suspicions of fraud, where developers inflate the value of the token before withdrawing significant profits, leaving other investors at a loss.
Further investigations have shown that insiders associated with the $LIBRA project may have made significant profits, with reports indicating that eight wallets accumulated over $107 million through strategic liquidity manipulation. The Argentine government has initiated an investigation to determine whether any officials, including President Milea, were involved in any wrongdoing related to the promotion and subsequent collapse of $LIBRA.
