Six men kidnapped a family of three and their nanny in Chicago, demanding the transfer of $15 million in cryptocurrency. According to the Chicago Tribune, the kidnapping occurred in October 2024, when the kidnappers knocked on the victims' door pretending to damage the garage door, then forcibly entered with guns, coercing the victims to transfer cryptocurrency. The kidnappers forcibly took the victims from their home, first bringing them to an Airbnb about an hour's drive away, and then transferring them to another location. The victims were forced to pay the ransom in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum, or they threatened to kill them. Five days later, the victims contacted their father for help via WeChat and eventually escaped on November 1. Although the victims claimed to have transferred $15 million in cryptocurrency, officials confirmed only $6 million of that. The six suspects were charged on December 13, with one named Wei Zehuan being arrested on January 17, while the other five suspects are believed to have fled to China. U.S. officials identified the suspects through evidence including surveillance footage, cryptocurrency wallets, and DNA samples, with some victims recognizing the kidnappers from photos. #市场清算 #XRP看涨还是看跌? #zkLend加密盗窃事件 #加密市场反弹 #代币储备 $ETH $BTC $BNB
