James Howells, a computer engineer from Newport, Wales, is contemplating purchasing a local landfill site in a bid to recover a hard drive containing approximately 8,000 $BTC bitcoins, currently valued at around £600 million. In 2013, Howells inadvertently discarded the drive during an office cleanup, and it has since remained buried in the Docksway landfill. After a decade-long legal battle, a high court recently dismissed his claim to search the site, ruling that the hard drive became the council's property upon entering the landfill. In response, Howells is now exploring the option of acquiring the landfill himself, especially as the council plans to close and repurpose the site for a solar farm. He has initiated discussions with investment partners to facilitate this potential purchase, aiming to finally retrieve his lost bitcoin fortune.
