Can Shiba Inu Reach $1 in 2025? Here's What You Need to Know
In 2021, Shiba Inu ($SHIB ) stunned the crypto world with an astronomical 45,278,000% surge, turning even small investments into life-changing profits. Imagine investing just $3 on January 1st and selling on December 31st—your investment could have made you a millionaire. However, as with many speculative rallies, it was a brief moment of euphoria, and by mid-2022, SHIB had lost over 90% of its peak value. Yet, despite these steep losses, the meme coin has regained some ground, driven by renewed optimism from investors.
Recent optimism around Shiba Inu has been partially fueled by hopes of more favorable policies under the Trump administration, which some believe could reduce the regulatory pressures on the crypto space. So, is there a real chance that Shiba Inu could hit the $1 mark in 2025? The reality may not be what you'd expect.
The biggest obstacle standing between Shiba Inu and the $1 price point is its enormous supply. With a staggering 589.2 trillion tokens currently in circulation, achieving a $1 valuation would require burning nearly all of these tokens—around 99.99998% of the total supply. In January, only 1.2 billion tokens were burned, translating to an annualized rate of about 14.4 billion per year. At this pace, it would take approximately 40,916 years to burn the necessary tokens.
While burning tokens does reduce supply and can make each remaining token appear more valuable, it doesn’t create real financial value. Even if Shiba Inu burned tokens at this accelerated rate, investors would still find themselves in the same financial position, owning fewer tokens worth more individually, but with no substantial increase in wealth. The road to $1, it seems, is far more complicated than a simple burn strategy can fix.
