Gaming icons Adin Ross and Richard "FaZe Banks" Bengtson have unveiled plans to launch a cryptocurrency-driven Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) server. Their ambitious vision, revealed during a livestream, aims to create a unique gaming ecosystem powered by a custom digital token, revolutionizing the in-game economy.

Ross confidently stated, "When GTA 6 drops, me and Ricky are going to make the biggest server together. I promise you, itโs going to be completely crypto. Everything pro-crypto about it. Itโs going to change the game." Banks elaborated that the serverโs economy would be built around a newly-developed cryptocurrency, with both of them committing significant financial resources to the project.
However, Rockstar Games has long opposed integrating cryptocurrency and NFTs in its titles. Back in 2022, the developer issued an official statement banning such assets from GTA Online and Red Dead Online servers, resulting in the shutdown of several community projects, including Lil Durkโs Trenches server. Moreover, Rockstarโs parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has aggressively enforced these policies through legal action.

Despite Rockstar's previous stance, rumors persist about the possibility of crypto-based rewards or payments being incorporated into GTA 6. Although no official confirmation has been given, Take-Two Interactive has shown interest in blockchain technology, notably through its 2022 acquisition of Zynga, a company actively involved in Web3 and NFT-based gaming projects.
Additionally, Take-Two participated in a $40 million investment round for Web3 gaming startup Horizon Blockchain, signaling potential future blockchain ventures. With GTA 6 set to launch soon, the studio's policies will determine whether Ross and Banks' crypto-powered vision becomes a reality or remains just a dream.
