1. Before becoming a KOL, think clearly about your North Star goal: what money are you making? This determines what content you create. Based on your strengths, create differentiated eye-catching content.
2. Users’ characteristics vary across different platforms.
There are many seasoned Twitter users, with a large flow of traffic and simple content production, but there are many wolves and little meat. Traffic is good, but fan engagement is weak. Most people in the Chinese-speaking region earn money while kneeling. Bloggers doing rebate types are not suitable; personal IP-type bloggers are suitable, and founder IP is essential.
YouTube mainly features long videos, with high fan engagement; people will watch your videos for over ten minutes without leaving, which is true love. The downside is that content production cycles are long, it's more competitive, and content requirements are higher. The advantage is that there are many novices, and rebate bloggers love it, suitable for those who can earn money standing up.
Zhihu, Sohu, Weibo, public accounts, Binance Square, WeChat groups are suitable for a crowd tactic. Professional fan teams must tackle these hard bones; users are of low quality, but as long as you have patience and can steady yourself to do customer service, hand in hand, you can achieve remarkable results.
3. The most basic rule of gaining traffic is to take the funnel model to the extreme. From the user's first glance at your content to their possible subsequent behaviors, you must simulate in your mind, even detailing every tweet's copy so that it isn’t collapsed; repeatedly try how to express the key message in 140 characters. If a user's interactive behavior is collapsed, even a benefits post's effect will be greatly reduced. A small tip: to prevent content from being collapsed, you can split a paragraph into two, and in the second paragraph, comment on your own post. Both pieces of content will not be collapsed.
4. Find your own writing style; try to speak while typing, your words will flow more smoothly. This is tested to be extremely effective, suitable for those who usually write less and find it hard to switch between spoken and written language (don’t think I don’t know how many times you stared at the screen for an hour without writing a word. I’ve written this in just ten minutes).
5. When creating an account, make sure to pick a good name first. In your bio, choose unique highlights about yourself. Write down 10, then filter out 3, and find a way to summarize it into one sentence. For a blogger like me, who comes with abstraction and visibility, I don’t need these. My voice and face are my brand. Search your name and UID across the internet to ensure that when others see your name, they can roughly guess what your UID is. This way, when others tag you, they won't have trouble finding you.
6. When starting an account, aim for at least 50 high-quality interactions daily. DM the big shots you want to be followed by, expressing your admiration—not flattery. For entrepreneurs, compliment their perseverance; for research bloggers, express your admiration for their wealth of knowledge. But remember, don’t act like a sycophant, asking for a follow-back in the comments or DMs. You think others don’t see you trying to gain followers? Why should they follow you back? KOLs follow back either impressive people or their most loyal fans. A tweet from a new account will not have as much visibility as a high-quality comment. Set a little bell to highlight high-quality comments; I have taught this trick to hundreds of KOLs, and it has been extremely effective (for more details, please Google the Twitter operation guide for Web3 practitioners).
7. Twitter is like a friend circle, but it’s a carefully packaged socialite friend circle. No one likes negative people, nor do they like weaklings. The content you post must be altruistic and, in a subtle way, show off your strengths. Indeed, if you post a revealing photo, the only people attracted will be sleazy individuals; people like us, the sigma males, will just take a glance and leave.
8. Use your brainless AI less; if you don’t know how to use it, train it more. Don’t think users can’t understand AI literature; practice writing more.
9. Establish a creative library; everyone has their own traffic password. In the initial stage of starting a profile, you need to experiment. Whatever content can attract fans, you review and fix it as a template for continued replication. But remember to distinguish between bad traffic and good traffic: if a person likes to argue and insult others, thinking it's a traffic password, he will become a rogue. If someone discovers that acting crazy can generate traffic, he will become a foolish blogger. A person's high-quality research report continuously gains traffic, and he will accumulate thousands of loyal, high-quality fans.
10. Personal IP influence index: number of your own fans x the number of fans of your fans.
This illustrates a principle: the more impressive your fans are, the more impressive you are. If your fans are trash, then you're trash too. So if your fan is Elon Musk, even if only Musk follows you, you're still a super impressive person!
11. Personal traffic vampire attack (remember not to disclose). The trick to chasing hot topics is not to chase quickly but to chase deeply. When a super big hot topic arises, everyone is paying attention, and you need to think about how to get noticed by everyone in this context. For example:
A star project that everyone is discussing; its popularity is extremely high, but most people are just spectators. As long as you are a bit more diligent than others, and you explain the entire star project clearly and deeply, you will naturally attract those interested in this project to follow you.
A very popular meme with a hundred thousand holders. How do you attract these hundred thousand people? You could buy in and become a super whale, then stand up and lead the rhythm. You could make an incredibly cool video for this meme, or even propose an incredibly clever development idea. As long as you shift from basic altruism to benefiting them, the traffic of this organization will still be vulnerable to your vampire attack.
Expand on your own; doing projects is the same. In the future, I will continue to share how to do traffic vampire attacks; Brother Sun is indeed good at this.
12. Video bloggers don’t need to roll out equipment; the iPhone Pro Max series is better than cameras 99% of the time. For sound, just buy DJI; it's a bit expensive but truly unbeatable.
13. Organize a team when necessary, be willing to share profits. The copywriting and operation can be done by the same person, and editing and creativity can also be done by one person.
14. Never do things for free, such as being asked to post a tweet for free. Before tweeting, think about whether the content meets several criteria: (1) Altruism (2) Willingness to spread (3) Desire for evaluation, or in other words, profit; otherwise, I will just post it elsewhere!
15. Prepare a secondary account to save your information flow; it can avoid your feed being polluted by people you must follow for social reasons. You can also check what your posts look like each time you send them out and continuously optimize.
16. Hook: Every tweet must have a strong guiding hook to lure users into your profit business model. Twitter is not Douyin; it is text-oriented, while videos and images are supplementary. There must be inducements for others to follow you, for example, if you follow me, I will give you a smart money address database, and if you help me retweet, I will give you a big slap. If you don’t believe what I say, please state your reasons in this comment, and I will choose one positive response, etc. Without guidance, users' attention is extremely scattered. Good content must have a desire for user interaction, combined with a good hook, traffic will double, and business will improve.
I’ve written quite a bit; to avoid making it too long, I’ll stop here for now. Finally, let me say this.
If you want to do well on Twitter, you don't need to study the algorithm; you just need to diligently keep updating, be a morally upright blogger. Being a blogger is very similar to fitness; practice is a lifelong commitment. Otherwise, if you stop, all your previous efforts will be wasted.
If you like the Dog Brother series, I will continue to update it! Creating is not easy, thank you for your one-click support!
