Mr. Trump confirms postponement of import taxes on Mexico.
"I just spoke with President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico. It was a very friendly conversation, during which she immediately agreed to provide 10,000 Mexican soldiers to the border separating Mexico and the United States. These soldiers will be specifically assigned to prevent illegal immigration into our country.
We also immediately agreed to suspend the proposed tax levels for one month, during which we will conduct negotiations led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, and Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, along with senior representatives from Mexico. I look forward to participating in those negotiations with President Sheinbaum as we seek to reach a "deal" between our two countries."
