Federal Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro has expressed strong opposition to the creation of the digital currency Drex, planned by the Central Bank of Brazil. He believes that the implementation of Drex must be prevented, as it represents an attempt at state control over the population's money, contradicting the concept of financial freedom promoted by Bitcoin.
Bolsonaro celebrated the decree signed by former US President Donald Trump, which prohibits the creation of digital currencies by the Federal Reserve, and argues that Brazil should not follow the path of creating centralized digital currencies.
Drex is seen by some as a measure with the potential to positively impact Brazil's economy, helping to reduce interest rates in the long term. Drex is expected to be implemented later this year.
Other politicians, such as Congresswoman Júlia Zanatta, also spoke out against Drex, presenting projects to prohibit the extinction of paper money and limit the advancement of digital currency. #drex
