#美联储维持利率不变
US President Trump (Trump) held his first Federal Reserve meeting since taking office last week. On Wednesday, the Federal Reserve announced that the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) decided to keep the federal funds rate unchanged, maintaining the target range at 4.25% to 4.5%.
The Federal Reserve has raised interest rates a total of 525 basis points from March 2022 to July 2024, and from September 2024, has cut rates in three consecutive meetings, totaling a reduction of 100 basis points.
Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell stated at Wednesday's press conference that the Fed does not need to rush to adjust its monetary policy stance, as inflation remains somewhat elevated. President Trump explicitly expressed his hope for the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates.
I believe that the Federal Reserve will definitely lower interest rates this year, and the next rate cut should be around June 2025.
According to data from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group (CME Group), the market expects the federal funds rate to fall to about 3.9% by the end of 2025, with a 61% chance of two rate cuts this year (each by 0.25 percentage points). Following this decision, the stock market declined after the Federal Reserve's statement.
