#FedHODL The Federal Reserve System, or Federal Reserve, often The Fed, in Romanian, Sistema federal de reserva [monetară], is the national central bank and its national system of the United States of America.
The Federal Reserve System is a semi-governmental banking system consisting of:
(1) a Board of Governors appointed by presidential decree, who are headquartered in Washington, D.C.;
(2) a Federal Open Market Committee;
(3) twelve regional banks, called regional Federal Reserve Banks located in various major cities throughout the nation, all of which are joint-stock companies; and
(4) numerous private banks, which own a varying portion of the total value of the stock of the 12 regional banks of the system ([the] regional Federal Reserve Banks).
Jerome Powell is the current Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.
It is noteworthy that, unlike many countries around the world where central banks are the exclusive property of the respective state, in the United States of America, the Federal Reserve System is owned by private entities.
