MIAMI, Jan 27 (Reuters) - President #DonaldTrump highlighted on Monday that Chinese startup #DeepSeek's AI technology should spur American companies into action, praising China's innovation in creating a cheaper and faster artificial intelligence model.

"The launch of DeepSeek by a Chinese company should wake up our industries to the need for laser-focused competition," Trump stated from Florida.

Global investors reacted by selling off technology stocks on Monday, fearing that this new, cost-effective Chinese AI could challenge the dominance of current US leaders in the field.

"I've been following developments in China ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ, where companies are advancing AI faster and at a lower cost. That's positive news because it means less spending for similar results," Trump noted.

"I see this as an opportunity for us to adopt similar strategies and reduce costs while achieving the same outcomes," he added.

Trump also mentioned discussions with Chinese leaders, acknowledging American superiority in scientific talent and suggesting that US companies would likely adopt similar innovations.

"We lead in ideas and innovation ๐Ÿ’ก. This could lead to positive developments where we spend less and achieve comparable solutions," Trump concluded.
