The Consumer Confidence Index fell to 104.7 in December, down 8.1 points from November¹. The drop was due to a decline in the Expectations Index, which measures consumers’ short-term expectations about income, business and employment.
The University of Michigan Consumer Confidence Index fell to 71.1 in January, down 2.9 points from December². This index is based on a monthly survey of U.S. consumer confidence regarding the economy, personal finances and employment conditions.
