On the Pump.Fun platform, known as the "meme coin factory" on the Solana network, a fraudulent token called BRAZIL appeared. The scammers attempted to sell it, appealing to the patriotic feelings of Brazilians — just as Donald Trump addresses the citizens of the USA.
On behalf of Bolsonaro, scammers posted the following message: "It’s time to exalt our country! I am launching the digital currency BRAZIL, which embodies the pride, freedom, and power of the Brazilian people." To make it more convincing, they attached a photo of Bolsonaro shaking hands with Trump during a G20 meeting when both were presidents.
Shortly after this, Bolsonaro regained access to his account, and the fraudulent post was deleted. However, in a short time, the fake token BRAZIL managed to grow by 10,000%, and the scammers received over 1.3 million Brazilian reais (approximately $220,000) from trusting users.
It should be noted that the Central Bank of Brazil has proposed banning transfers of stablecoins USDT and similar assets to non-custodial wallets such as MetaMask.
