World ID is suspended in Brazil as of this Saturday
The National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) has ordered the suspension of operations of Tools for Humanity (TFH), the company responsible for World ID (WLD) in Brazil.
This decision mainly prevents the offering of cryptocurrencies or any form of financial compensation in exchange for the collection of biometric data, specifically iris scans, of Brazilian citizens.

In an official statement, the ANPD highlighted that the practice of offering financial rewards may compromise free consent, as required by the General Data Protection Law (LGPD). The collection of biometric data, due to its sensitive nature, requires consent that is given freely, informed and unequivocally. And, above all, without external influences that may affect the decision of the data subject, argues the regulator.
