Silk Road, known as the "dark market of the internet", was one of the first online trading platforms to operate on the dark web, using Bitcoin as a means of payment. 🚨 Created in 2011, the site offered total anonymity for transactions of drugs, illicit products and questionable services.
In 2013, the FBI shut down the platform and arrested its creator, Ross Ulbricht, who was sentenced to life in prison. The case raised debates about the use of cryptocurrencies and regulation in the digital market.
