Bitcoin (BTC), the largest cryptocurrency in the world, along with other major crypto tokens, experienced a decline on Thursday, January 23. The drop was attributed to profit-taking at higher levels and the lack of any Bitcoin-related remarks from former US President Donald Trump.
As of 10:18 AM IST, Bitcoin was trading at $101,938, down 3.4%, after reaching an intraday low of $101,604. Ethereum also dropped 3.8% to $3,194, while the global crypto market cap declined by 3.4% to $3.52 trillion.
Other major altcoins faced losses as well, with Solana down 2.6%, BNB 2%, XRP 1.4%, Dogecoin 5.2%, Chainlink 6%, and Sui 6.2%. Newly launched tokens, Trump Coin and Melania Coin, plunged 12% and 15%, respectively.
"Bitcoin is trading below $102,000 as investors book profits at higher levels. Following its rally to a new all-time high, Bitcoin is expected to remain range-bound between $100,000 and $109,000 until the end of the month, as investors await the outcome of the FOMC meeting for further direction," said Edul Patel, CEO of Mudrex.
