How My Friend Lost $10,000 on Binance Due to a Withdrawal Mistake.
Recently, a friend who mine lost $10,000 in a cryptocurrency transaction, and it's a story everyone can learn from. He wanted to send $10,000 USDT from his Binance wallet to his partner’s account on Bybit, using the BEP20 network (Binance Smart Chain).
But during the transfer, he mistakenly chose the opBNB network instead of BEP20. At first, everything looked fine, but the funds never showed up in the Bybit account. The problem? The opBNB network isn’t supported by Bybit.
He contacted customer support, but getting money back from the wrong network is very difficult. So far, he hasn’t been able to recover his $10,000.
Here’s what we can learn:
1. Double-check the network: Always make sure the network you select matches the one supported by the destination account.
2. Confirm the address: Double-check the address to avoid mistakes.
3. Take your time: Don’t rush; mistakes in crypto transactions can be costly.
Crypto transfers are fast but irreversible. Taking a few extra seconds to check everything could save you a lot of money!
