The situation in#East_Congo_DRCon Tuesday, January 21
The town of Bweremena, located in the territory of Masisi (North Kivu), and that of Minova, in the territory of Kalehe (South Kivu), were taken by M23 rebels between Monday, January 20 and Tuesday, January 21. Several sources say that these attackers took control of these towns after violent fighting that lasted almost all day Monday in the mountains near the chiefdoms of Bahunde, in North Kivu, and Buhavu, in South Kivu. Although Sake is still under the surveillance of the Congolese army, the situation there is very unstable. This Tuesday, several schools in the Mugunga neighborhood decided to send all children home as a precaution.
