Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has stated that a major overhaul of the Ethereum Foundation’s governance structure is currently underway, and this change has been underway for almost a year. Some of these changes have already been implemented and announced, while others are still in the works. The main goals to be achieved include:
- Increasing the level of technical expertise of the Ethereum Foundation management;
- Improving two-way communication and connections between the Ethereum Foundation leadership and both new and old participants in its ecosystem. The Ethereum Foundation's responsibilities include supporting: users (individual and institutional), application developers, wallets, L2;
- Introducing new talents to increase performance and speed;
- More active support for application developers to ensure important values and inalienable rights (especially privacy, open source, censorship resistance) for all users, including those at the application level;
- Continued increase in the use of decentralized technologies, privacy technologies, and on-chain uses of Ethereum, including payments and fund management.
Things to avoid in the future include:
- Implementation of any ideological/atmospheric changes;
- Starting to actively lobby regulators or influential political figures (especially in America, but really anywhere, especially in large countries), risking damaging Ethereum's status as a globally neutral platform;
- Become an arena for vested interests;
- Become a highly centralized organization or even become a "main character" within Ethereum.
