Marcelo Prata, a BBB 25 contestant, was the leader of Unick Forex, a financial pyramid scheme that defrauded 1.5 million people of R$$ 12 billion. In 2019, an administrative proceeding resulted in fines of R$$ 12 million. The PF's Lamanai Operation dismantled the scheme, indicting 15 people for financial crimes.
The Prata brothers, regional leaders, were not punished due to the lack of specific legislation at the time. However, experts say they may be held liable under the Consumer Protection Code.
