Nasdaq-traded bitcoin mining company Mara Holdings has placed an image of Donald Trump, the 47th president of the United States, on the Bitcoin blockchain. The president-elect’s face has now been immortalized on the blockchain, specifically at block 879613, and can be seen on indexes like Mempool.space.
Trump has said he will advocate for industry concerns during his incoming administration, including appointing David Sachs to a newly created “crypto czar” position in the cabinet to boost regulation and create a “strategic bitcoin reserve.”
Additionally, Trump has pledged to support the domestic bitcoin mining industry, even calling for the United States to own 100% of the network’s total hash power. The U.S. currently owns about 25%.
Mining stocks have been on the rise ahead of Monday’s inauguration. The market value of 16 mining stocks tracked by JPMorgan has risen 16% to $4.5 billion in the first two weeks of the year.
