Drex is expected to drive growth in e-commerce in 2025; revenue is expected to reach R$235 billion
The launch of Drex, the digital real developed by the Central Bank of Brazil, promises to transform the e-commerce scenario and boost its growth in the coming years.
According to projections from the Brazilian Electronic Commerce Association (ABComm), the sector is expected to reach a turnover of R$234.9 billion in 2025. In addition, the new possibilities brought by digital currency will boost growth and expand online payment options.
Drex will enable faster, safer and more accessible transactions, connecting even more Brazilians to the digital market. In this sense, this movement follows a trend towards financial inclusion, especially among the C class, which already stands out in the volume of online purchases. Therefore, ABComm points out that democratizing access to payment technologies is essential for the advancement of the sector.
