The company #Ripple , issuer #xrp , in collaboration with the cryptocurrency payment service #MoonPay donated stablecoins to combat the fires in the American state of California. Employees of these companies transferred Ripple USD (RLUSD) coins pegged to the dollar to the Los Angeles Fire Department in the amount of $50,000. The rescuers, who are called heroes in this emergency situation, thanked the organizations for their financial support during the crisis.

Due to drought and strong winds, wildfires quickly spread in Los Angeles, destroying entire areas such as Pasadena and Calabasas. More than 200,000 local residents were evacuated to avoid casualties. However, at least 16 people were unable to escape and died.

One of the fire victims was a 70-year-old woman who survived but lost her property. Her house burned down along with a piece of paper on which her personal key to a Bitcoin wallet was written. She did not remember the login details for the crypto storage and therefore lost access to her savings in digital assets.

It is worth noting that Ripple has helped those in need before. The company launched the Ripple Impact Initiative charity program, under which it has already donated over $170 million to non-profit, charitable, and educational organizations operating in more than 80 countries around the world.
