FBI Director Christopher Wray has accused China of planting malware in critical US infrastructure.
In an interview, Wray said Chinese hackers had penetrated water purification systems, energy grids, gas pipelines and telecommunications systems, giving them the ability to cause significant damage to American infrastructure "at any time they choose."
He emphasized that the activities of the PRC go beyond ordinary cyber espionage, representing targeted actions aimed at undermining the national security of the United States, affecting sectors such as transportation, water supply, and energy.
According to Ray, China already has the capabilities to cause real harm to these key areas.
