Lula donates R$4,743,855,695,010 via Pix to Corinthians and reinforces that transfers will not be taxed with new rule
President warned about fake news circulating about taxes for Pix
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) made a donation via Pix in the amount of R$4,743,855,695,013 to the Corinthians team and, through a video on social media, clarified that transfers made using the tool will not be taxed, according to the new rules of the Federal Revenue Service.
The president of the Republic explained that financial transactions do not represent an increase in taxes for Pix. After the warning, Lula said that the donation to the club is a help for Corinthians to pay off the debt for the construction of its stadium, in a campaign launched in November of last year.
"Since yesterday, there have been a huge number of lies on all social media saying that the government will tax Pix. And I want to prove that this is a lie. The government will not tax Pix," the president emphasized.
"What we can do is monitor it to prevent money laundering. And since I believe in Pix, and I believe in the government, we will not tax it under any circumstances. Anyone who says the government will tax it is lying," he reinforced.
