# **Anticipating Quantum Computing, Solana Launches Vault to Protect Network**

Solana (SOL), the 6th crypto asset by market capitalization, has launched a new feature called "Solana Winternitz Vault" on its network to protect user funds from the threat of quantum computers. This is if quantum computers have developed, it can threaten the crypto industry.

This is a solution to withstand the potential that quantum will cause. This feature uses advanced cryptographic techniques that are useful for protecting digital assets from the risks of quantum computing.

It is known that Solana Winternitz Vault uses a hash-based signature system, the same as Bitcoin (BTC). This method produces a new key for each transaction that can make it difficult for quantum computers to exploit and break the key.

The system also uses a cryptographic protocol called Winternitz One-Time Signatures, which creates a private key scalar and hashes it to create a public key, and stores part of the hash for verification.
