Last week I finally finished a book that I’ve been reading for a while , the name of the book is Spin selling by Neil Rackham. In the book I learnt alot about sales but another thing I took out of the book was the importance of partnerships in business. I learnt about how a good partnership can potentially push both partners to the peak of their industry and how a bad one can take the partners on a trip to rock bottom. Today I’ll be showing you all an example of the impact a good partnership can make. Now let’s dive in.

The TON Foundation and Telegram in September 2023 announced an exciting partnership with the ambitious goal of introducing 30% of Telegram’s active users to the TON blockchain by 2028. This partnership was built around leveraging the TON blockchain as the backbone of the project while using Telegram Mini-Apps to connect with Telegram’s massive global user base.

A key turning point for the partnership was the success of Notcoin, a project that made use of Tap to earn gaming to get people interested in Mini-Apps. Through these games, users were introduced to cryptocurrency in a fun and approachable way, with airdrops of game-launched tokens and meme coins sparking curiosity and participation. This innovative strategy made it easier for regular Telegram users to take their first steps into the world of crypto.

To keep the momentum going, the TON Foundation launched a variety of initiatives to encourage growth. They introduced TON Grants to support developers building on TON, The Open League to foster a sense of community, and even hosted offline events to bring people together and educate them about blockchain technology. All of these efforts were designed to make crypto more accessible and relatable to everyday users.

By July 2024, these efforts were already showing incredible results. Telegram Mini-Apps hit a massive milestone of 500 million monthly active users (MAUs), which helped boost Telegram’s total user base to a record 950 million MAUs. Even more impressively, by October 2024, 30 million of these users had taken the leap into the cryptocurrency space, marking a huge achievement for the partnership. This boost in telegram users led to a boost in the number of users on many telegram or Ton ecosystem based applications such as tonkeeper, STON.fi and others.

What makes this so inspiring to me is how much they’ve accomplished in just one year. It shows how creative ideas and smart strategies can drive major change, even in a space as challenging as blockchain adoption. With a few more years of growth and innovation ahead, it’s exciting to think about how far this partnership between TON and Telegram can go!
