Russia starts using Bitcoin in international payments

Russia is actively using Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in international payments to cope with sanctions from the West. Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov stated that businesses in the country have begun to adopt Bitcoin – mined domestically – to replace traditional payment channels disrupted by Russia's exclusion from the SWIFT system. At the same time, Russia is also legalizing Bitcoin mining, with ambitions to expand the use of cryptocurrencies in international trade. President Vladimir Putin emphasized that Bitcoin is not controlled by any country, while criticizing the US for using the USD as a political tool, prompting countries, including Russia, to seek alternative solutions.
